“I’ll start by saying these guys don’t have an easy job to begin with, and my house made it even harder. Everything about my old home just screamed that I can’t have central air, not even high velocity (some contractors didn’t even bid on the job because they thought it would be too tough). However, Unique indoor comfort had a good price among those willing to try and they subsequently did an outstanding job. When first visiting my house, they were clear about the pros and cons of high velocity compared to traditional A/C and mini split systems, what parts of my finished attic will be taken over by the system and where I would need to have finishing work done. The installation crew did a great job wrestling my non-compliant house to get the system in, and they left very little unexpected damage in their path (this surprised me given the nature of my house and the job to be done). Lastly, the boss was there to get the job started and answer any questions; he also came at the end to inspect the work and perform some final finishings. Some of the other bidders were either too small with not enough experience with high velocity, or large operations with a lot of marketing dollars but lacking the impression they would do what’s right for their customers. Unique indoor comfort has that customer committed family operation combined with the experience needed to get the tough jobs done, and that is the perfect blend for me”.

“Unique Comfort has been a great find! They diagnosed my broken air conditioner and promptly sent me a quote for the new installation. Their quote was very reasonable and they scheduled the installation to be within a few days, as opposed to the three weeks a larger company required. The next day there was a small problem and they sent someone out the same day. They were prompt, efficient and polite. The guys that did the install were super neat, respectful and conscientious. They answer the phone when I call. They get back to me quickly and they really seem to care about the satisfaction of their customers”.

“Great job….3 years ago they installed a high efficiency gas boiler and I was very happy . They were professional clean and installed on the date they said they would…..GREAT!!! I had them come back and install central air..in a 1955 colonial!! Again..GREAT job. Quick clean and on time. Steve the owner even suggested a ductless system for the basement family room for efficiency …we don’t use the room all that much. Works wonderfully all around! I found the service and professional manner of all the employees I encountered refreshing…I appreciate the fact that both jobs were done on time, with very nice clean up and at a reasonable price”.

“My AC broke of course during a heatwave this past Saturday. Mike came to work on my unit around 3pm and did not leave until it was fixed, hours later. It was hot, miserable and I can’t tell you how many times he went up into the attic and roof to identify the problem. The roof being on the 6th floor. From the start of the service call, meeting time confirmation and throughout the visit, Unique Indoor Comfort, through Steve Martin and his technician, Mike, provided professional care. Everyone was extremely courteous and it was evident of the quality of their work and eagerness of getting the unit to work/job done on the day. Mike conducted himself professionally, showed an overwhelming amount of patience and is just a person that you know you can trust. He was extremely clean while doing the repairs. I would strongly recommend this company if you want trusted professionals. It is refreshing this a company like this exists, too often service calls are met with people and companies who are not reliable, trust worth and try to just charge too much and take advantage. This is the complete opposite here and it is truly ‘comforting’ with Unique Indoor Comfort.”

I first had UIC install SpacePak in my home. High velocity AC is more expensive than a traditional system and I wanted someone who would work with me to get exactly what I wanted in my complicated and old home. They did an excellent job and I couldn’t be happier with the AC and their service. They were patient as we worked out some kinks at the end of the project (not their fault…I’ve now learned the nightmare that Nest thermostats can cause). I was so happy with their service that I had them convert my house to gas. They installed a new boiler for me and worked with me to move the position in the basement. They also have a pressing tool so they don’t have to solder the copper pipes, which I would highly recommend. There was a slight assembly issue of the boiler from the manufacture (Alpine). Steve came out on a Saturday and fixed it in 15 minutes. Excellent customer service and installation. I’ve been recommending them to my friends and finally got around to writing a review. They aren’t the cheapest you’ll find, but you get what you pay for and UIC is worth it if you are investing in your home. You won’t regret it.

Uniform Indoor Comfort provided a number of noteworthy services that are in fact “Unique”. My previous combination heating/domestic hot water system had been installed by another vendor. When that unit failed just before Christmas, Steve Carpenter from Unique Comfort got in touch with the manufacturer and was able to provide the evidence of failure in real time and a new unit was dispatched the following day. The re-installation by Travis was quite professional and the whole process only lasted about three days during Christmas week. Later in February when the heating function seemed to fail, they rushed Steve Carpenter again within a couple of hours from my call to purge the unit and restore its function. Finally, I am grateful to Jason who had been very helpful a number of times in the past, came thru again in reminding me about and helping secure a rebate on the new system.

I just had the pleasure of having Unique Indoor Comfort add central air to my 1905 house. I have renovated a few homes, two in New York, one in California and this one here in Boston.  I’ve had the audacity to, for the most part, act as my own GC (smart move or not, jury is still out) but that means that I have had the opportunity to interact with many representations of construction trade.  I can categorically state that my interactions with UIC have been among the most spectacular I’ve ever experienced.

 

From my first interaction with Jason who came to my home and gave me an estimate in the late fall of last year, to everyone I’ve spoken with from your office, to the delightful gentlemen who actually did the installation.  Not a notable misstep among them, quite the contrary, top notch service. I met Jason in the late fall/early winter of last year.  He was late arriving to my house because of traffic ([but he offered to come at] my convenience at 5pm on a Friday…) but he kept me updated as to his progress so I didn’t feel as if I was in limbo at any time.  He walked through my house, listened to what I wanted (under a blanket in August baby!) made appropriate recommendations and left me his card.

 

Imagine my surprise when, after dithering around for a few months, I called him in the spring and he not only got back to me promptly, but also remembered that I wanted to be under a blanket in August!  I fully expected that I would call at the beginning of your high season and be brushed off because I didn’t act when you were less busy.  But, nope, I was treated just as respectfully as when I called during your low season. The install was scheduled for a Monday in early June, Jason called and asked if they could come earlier than expected!!! I moved my schedule around to start on the Thursday. Now we get to the good stuff.

 

You came, and were lovely, but we’re not talking about you.  Bryan and Mike arrived and started walking around my house with their cute little green slippers on and the four of us identified the right places to put my little circle things as well as prepped me for what was to come.

 

Over the next few days Bryan, Mike and I did a little bonding.  I watched as Mike was taught about “building character” as he was in the basement shoving silver tubes into the ceiling and Bryan sat in the corner of the living room chatting with me while holding a rope.  They patiently answered all of my million questions. laughed at my stupid jokes and were very nice to my scary looking but really sweet dog.  We ate breakfast sandwiches together.  Throughout the whole experience they were ridiculously respectful of me, my house and what I wanted out of the install.  I tried, and failed, to break Bryan of the habit of calling me Ma’am (because it made me feel old) but there are worse things than being annoyed by politeness.  They did a thorough job of cleaning every day, took my outdoor box fan thing into the van when I was worried about it being stolen over the weekend and even carried my window unit back into the basement.  In the end, Bryan tried to explain to me how the system worked, but gave in when he realized that I just wanted to know where the “off” switch was so, if needed, I could hit it and speed dial him. They did a thorough job of install and ensuring that my ratty old basement actually looked better than when they arrived!  Imagine that.

 

I am more than delighted with my experience with UIC, and although it has ironically dipped into the 50s since you left, I know that the system will work beautifully when needed. Your whole team is polite, professional, relatable, customer service oriented and most importantly inspires trust and confidence.  You should be proud of the team you’ve assembled and they should be proud of the work they do. I look forward to many years of not seeing you, because I am confident in the work, but know that you will be there if needed.
