An air conditioning system that requires ducts would experience the air being cooled in the compressor, vented into the home through the ducts and then flow into any room that has open vents.
Ductless Systems
Ductless HVAC systems do not require ducts (as the name implies) and are the most popular choice, especially in old construction homes. Ductless HVAC systems can also be more energy efficient due to utilizing refrigerated lines to deliver air from the compressor into the rooms of the home. These refridgerated lines are easier to install and efficiently circulate heated or cooled air.
